1.  TERM

A firestopping register is a product-level record of the firestopping systems installed at each fire penetration in a building, specifying the firestopping product, tested system reference, fire resistance level, and installation method for every sealed penetration.

2.  PURPOSE

A firestopping register provides auditors, certifiers, and building owners with product-specific evidence that every penetration through a fire-rated barrier has been sealed with an approved, correctly installed, and tested firestopping system.

It is the document that directly demonstrates code compliance at the product level — moving beyond the presence of a seal to confirming the correct system was used for the specific penetration type, barrier rating, and service diameter.

3.  SCOPE

A firestopping register applies to all penetrations through fire-rated walls, floors, and ceilings in commercial, residential, and industrial construction. It is a required component of passive fire certification in Australia and New Zealand.

It is a sub-set of the broader passive fire register, focusing specifically on the product and system detail of each firestopping installation rather than the broader installation context.

4.  COMPONENTS

  • Penetration unique ID and location reference

  • Fire-rated barrier type and fire resistance level (FRL) — e.g. -/120/120

  • Service type — cable, pipe (plastic or metal), duct, or structural penetration

  • Service diameter or bundle dimensions

  • Firestopping product — manufacturer, product name, and batch reference

  • Tested system reference — CodeMark certificate number, ETA reference, or equivalent

  • Installation method — e.g. collar, wrap, putty, board, spray

  • Photographic evidence of completed installation

  • Installer name and date

5.  OUTPUTS

  • Firestopping register exportable to Excel per building or work package

  • Product compliance evidence for firestopping audits

  • Appendix to passive fire certification package
